Our Ocean Plastic Problem is Growing

8 million pieces of plastic make their way into our oceans everyday. That's almost 90% of all marine debris in the ocean.

This growing plastic epidemic is a grave threat to the future of our oceans and marine lives.

Safe Catch is a California-based seafood brand going Plastic Neutral to save fight this global plastic epidemic. The sustainable brand recognizes the urgency and depth of this growing issue.

Sean Wittenberg

Co-Founder of Safecatch

“At Safecatch, we believe in the power of businesses to affect change. We are standing up for what is right and we hope to see our peers do the same. We need to work together and secure the future of our oceans before it's too late."

How it Works

1. Measure

Safe Catch donates a percentage of every product purchase to fund the collection of 61,000 lbs of low-value plastic waste from oceans and landfills.

Low-value plastic is collected, processed and recycled by 2 innovative social enterprises in India who employ and empower waste pickers and members of coastal fishing communities to tackle plastic waste

2. Compensate

3. Reduce

Safecatch will work with rePurpose to reduce the future use of virgin plastics in their products and build a more circular business model.

This is how much plastic you waste every year.

Safe Catch's Sustainability Journey

A Steady Start

From sourcing to sales, Safe Catch ensures the sustainability of their products. Since its launch in 2015, the brand has been dedicated to buying produce from fisheries that practice ethical sourcing. To further protect the purity of their products, Safe Catch innovated technology to test the mercury levels of their tuna.

The Final Destination

Strong in their pursuit of cleaner and safer oceans, Safe Catch plans to invest in more projects addressing the marine waste problem. By going Plastic Neutral, the

brand is also taking steps towards a circular packaging model that ensures minimal negative impact on our planet.

The Plastic Neutral Shift

Extending its care for the ocean and championing causes that protect it, Safe Catch has gone Plastic Neutral. Through its partnership with rePurpose, the company is protecting oceans from plastic pollution and offering its products at a net zero plastic footprint, while empowering local fishing communities in India.
